Just in case you missed this past Wednesday’s Vice-Presidential debate, the closing question to the candidates was submitted by an eighth grade student from Utah named Brecklyn Brown.

It certainly gave me pause, because it made sense on so many levels in a country divided as I have never seen it in the recent past.

This is not meant as a political polemic post, but just some food for thought that was awakened by a student.

I think its essence is in the minds of so many voters today.

Here is her question:

“When I watch the news, all I see is arguing between Democrats and Republicans.

When I watch the news, all I see are citizen fighting against citizen.

When I watch the news, all I see is two candidates from opposing parties try to tear one another down.

If our leaders can’t get along, how are our citizens supposed to get along?”

I believe an addendum to her question asked what were the individual candidate’s proposals for UNITING our country?

Hope the question provided some much need food for thought, not only for the candidates, but for ALL of us.

Have to search out some classic picture books about getting along and conflict resolution.
