Help Support Early Literacy Today!
Join the Bug Squad and Read for the Record
Today, October 4th, please have your family join with teachers and community members across the country to raise awareness of the importance of early literacy. Since Liz’s Book Snuggery is fully behind this initiative, here’s how you and your young ones can become a part of this exciting yearly campaign, presented by the Pearson Foundation in partnership with Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, to spark interest in the essential need for reading at an early age.
Each year a favorite book is selected and this year it’s a winner. The selection is Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad by the New York Times best selling team of Jacky Davis and David Soman. Together, by visiting http://wegivebooks.org/books/ladybug-girl-and-the-bug-squad today, you can start reading the official book for this year’s race to the record.
With each book you read in the free online digital library, you not only read a great book, participate in the this group drive to set a new world record as people across the country do the same, but for each book read, We Give Books will donate another brand new book to a library that Jumpstart serves. It’s a terrific day and its success depends on your participation! So let’s join Lady Bug Girl and her Bug Squad to make October 4th and Read for the Record a world record setting event!
Though Read for the Record this year is October 4th, you and your children are encouraged to read wonderful children’s books online anytime. The We Give Books library is always open and is packed with hundreds of age appropriate digital books to choose from.
So please join us with your children today and Read a book, Donate a Book!
Please visit www.wegivebooks.org to join this important national initiative.
The Bug Squad is waiting to be counted and they’re counting on you!
